How BCG works

The UK Treasury Five-Case-Model requires business cases to explain the strategic, economic, commercial, financial and management case for investment in three stages: Strategic Outline Case (SOC), Outline Business Case (OBC) and Full Business Case (FBC).

Unlike generic AI tools, BCG applies structured option appraisal, enforces Green Book logic, and ensures decisions are evidence-based.

The user uploads project information. BCG suggests written and numerical content for each section of the business case. The user-friendly interface enables users to ask questions, examine evidence and re-draft, as required.

Users approve each section of the business case so they always remain in control.

BCG’s multi-user feature enables colleagues to read, interact with and edit business case in app with traceable edit and history function to ensure version control.

BCG provides easy edit, save and export functions to word/excel.

BCG generates written content and supporting evidence for each section of the business case, with every claim linked to its source, so users can verify the basis for each recommendation.

Ask BCG enables users to interrogate the draft at any point. Users can Ask BCG where a specific number comes from, request an explanation of the rationale behind a piece of evidence, or instruct BCG to shorten a section or redraft it with a different emphasis.

This gives users full confidence in the content they are approving, while retaining the flexibility to shape the business case to reflect their own judgement and priorities.
